I am a big fan of Chris Zook's work. He is a partner at Bain & Company and he has spent alot of time researching what companies should do from a strategic point of view to be successful. Zook offers sobering statistics for the success of new ventures and equally inspiring numbers for the power that market leaders have in their industries.

The New York Times economics blog, Economix, has had two great posts recently that tie into recent business books and big ideas. The first, Helping People Make Good Choices, was posted on Sunday by economics editor Catherine Rampell and discusses "libertarian paternalism," an idea at the center of Richard Thaler and Cass Sustein's Nudge. If you ask me, Getting Things Done and Making It All Work are two important goals to set for the remainder of the year, and you only have 360 days left to accomplish them.
This year saw a big development in our monthly bestseller lists, as Inc. magazine decided to partner with us to spread the word about what books businesspeople are purchasing for themselves and their teams. Thus was born the Inc.
