Back in March, Jack received a note from a Major Steve Sheridan out of Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He wrote: Reading your 100 B3OAT [Best Business Books of All Time] and loving it – thanks for writing it! I’ve only read 7 on the list of 100, so I’ve got a new reading plan for a few years.

Reading your 100 B3OAT [Best Business Books of All Time] and loving it – thanks for writing it! I've only read 7 on the list of 100, so I've got a new reading plan for a few years. That is why I am writing. I am preparing to go to Afghanistan. I don't know what your company's policy is in supporting the troops, but here is an idea... I would like to start a library in Afghanistan of the 100 B3OAT[s], which Soldiers could check-out. Making our Soldiers better through the knowledge gained. Once in Afghanistan, I'll have a mailing address. It would be great if 800-CEO-Read would then send us the books listed in the 100 B3OAT. Once received, I would take photos and write an article for your use in marketing/publicity/website. After my year, I would pass on the library to the next Unit. Your gift will impact hundreds of lives over the years. Thanks for your consideration, Steve MAJ Sheridan
After further communications with Major Sheridan, Jack decided that he would like to supply five libraries of The 100 Best Business Books of All Time books for five bases in Afghanistan. We collected the books from generous publishers and authors and shipped them. Each book has a sticker showing that the book is complements of 800-CEO-READ and the donating publisher. In September, we received our first picture of the library in Afghanistan featured in MAJ Sheridan's newsletter, The Bald Eagle. He wrote:
My friend MAJ Struse came up with this acronym - Business & Leadership Library (BULL) for books reviewed in The 100 Best Business Books of All Time (http://800ceoread.com). On pages 3 & 4, I've included what I sent out to my Unit.
Of course we laughed at the irony of the acronym--no doubt the folks who don't love business books would find it fitting. But in all seriousness, we are so pleased to be able to send these good works, the best business books of all time, to the folks overseas so that they have access to some of the keenest business thought published over the past 30 years. Our thanks go to MAJ Steve Sheridan for initiating this endeavor. Our thanks go to the publishers and authors who helped us fulfill this goal and create this library. Our thanks go to the men and women in Afghanistan and all over the globe who are working to better the world. ***
